What is Six Sigma

In the late 1980s, Six Sigma was born in the manufacturing world to improve the manufacturing process. During the second half of the 1990s, Six Sigma exploded onto the U.S. business scene as a process improvement and problem solving methodology frequently broken down into five phases: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC)

Deffect is defined as anything outside the customers specs, and can be easily converted to Sigma allowing company wide comparison and performance.
